Biomethane Station Data April 2026

11 May 2026 – ReFuels N.V., a leading European supplier of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) for the decarbonisation of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), today published Bio-CNG station data for April 2026.

  • CNG Fuels dispensed 5,725 tonnes of Bio-CNG from 16 public access refuelling stations, up 9% from 5,254 tonnes in April 2025
  • Average daily dispensed volume reached a new record of 191 tonnes per day, compared to 175 tonnes per day in the year-earlier period
  • A daily average of 2,253 vehicles refuelled across the station network, an increase of 11% year-on-year
  • The rolling three-month average number of vehicles increased to 2,246 per day, up 12% year-on-year

“We delivered continued steady growth in dispensing volumes in April and a new record in average daily volumes, despite a slower pace of new Bio-CNG truck deployments than in the year-ago period. Delivery of new trucks is expected to increase in the coming months. We continue to see a growing number of trial requests from UK fleet operators following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has highlighted the vulnerability of the UK’s and Europe’s diesel supply chains. Biomethane offers fleet operators a locally sourced, lower-carbon and lower-cost alternative to imported fossil fuels,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO and co-founder of ReFuels.

Prices for Renewable Transport Fuel Certificates (RTFCs) averaged 17.38 pence in April, compared to 19.14 pence in March. As communicated in the Q3 2026 report, the RTFCs for 2026 are sold forward for later delivery. Most of the RTFCs to be generated for later delivery have been sold forward at around 25-26 pence. RTFCs are awarded at a rate of 3.8 certificates per kilo of Bio-CNG dispensed and sold to fuel suppliers with a blending obligation under the UK's Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) scheme.

CNG Fuels supplies biomethane through a growing network of refuelling stations, currently operating 16 public access Bio-CNG stations strategically located on major UK trucking routes. One additional station in Magor, South Wales, is under construction to further expand network capacity.

ReFuels provides monthly operational updates, normally released within ten working days after the end of each month.
