Biomethane Station Data January 2024

8 February 2024 - Refuels N.V., one of Europe's leading suppliers of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) for decarbonisation of heavy goods vehicles, today published Bio-CNG station data for January 2024.

  • A total volume of 4,339 tonnes of Bio-CNG was dispensed from 13 public access refuelling stations in operation during January 2024, an increase of 51.5% from 2,864 tonnes in January 2023 (10 stations)
  • The average daily dispensed volume was 140 tonnes in January, compared to 134 tonnes dispensed per day in December 2023
  • For the three months ending 31 January 2024, the total dispensed volume was 12,827 tonnes, an increase of 51% compared to the three months ending 31 January 2023
  • In January, a daily average of 1,602 vehicles refuelled at ReFuels' Bio-CNG stations, compared to 1,174 vehicles for the same period last year.

“Our growth is a function of new stations and fleet owners switching from diesel to biogas as a cost-competitive and sustainable fuel with 90% lower carbon emissions. With a total vehicle order book standing at more than 900 Bio-CNG trucks and two new flagship fleet customers currently tendering for over 200 additional vehicles between them, we see ample room for continued strong volume growth, improved financial results and increased environmental impact through reduced emissions from heavy-duty transport,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels.

ReFuels had 146 unique customer fleets refuelling across the network at the end of January 2024, compared to 111 at the end of January 2023.

Through the CNG Fuels brand, ReFuels operates 13 public access Bio-CNG stations on major trucking routes in the UK. The group has two stations under construction, one in Aylesford in Southeast England and one Doncaster in South Yorkshire which is one of the UK's largest logistic hubs. Refuels expects one further station to commence construction during the financial reporting year ending 31 March 2024.

ReFuels provides monthly operational updates, which are normally released within ten working days after the end of the month.
