Biomethane Station Data June 2024

ReFuels-Home-Placeholder (optimized) 11 July 2024 – ReFuels N.V., one of Europe’s leading suppliers of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) for the decarbonisation of heavy goods vehicles, today published Bio-CNG station data for June 2024.
  • A total volume of 4,458 tonnes of Bio-CNG was dispensed from 14 public access refuelling stations in operation during June 2024, an increase of 22% from 3,662 tonnes in June 2023 (11 stations)
  • The average daily dispensed volume was 148.6 tonnes in June 2024, compared to 122 tonnes dispensed per day in June 2023
  • For the three months ending 30 June 2024, the total dispensed volume was 13,582 tonnes, an increase of 30% compared to the three months ending 30 June 2023
  • In June, a daily average of 1,761 vehicles refuelled at ReFuels’ Bio-CNG stations, compared to 1,401 vehicles for the same period last year, corresponding to a 26% growth
“Dispensed volumes of Bio-CNG increased by 22% in June compared to the same period last year, while number of vehicles using our refuelling stations were stable from May, with many vehicles in maintenance during the month balancing out new vehicles being delivered. The month also included an important future demand driver for ReFuels and the uptake of renewable biomethane across the UK, with Scania launching their new three-axle (6×2) CNG truck. This factory-made truck and a 6×2 from Iveco underline that major trucking producers are noticing the demand for CNG trucks. 6x2s being the preferred vehicle class for UK fleet operators, this will significantly increase the addressable market for ReFuels,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels. ReFuels had 167 unique customer fleets refuelling across the network in the three months ending 30 June 2024, compared to 128 for the comparable period in 2023. Through the CNG Fuels brand, ReFuels operates 14 public access Bio-CNG stations on major trucking routes in the UK. The group opened a new refuelling station in Aylesford in Kent in May. This is it the first public access station in Southeast England, a region with a population of more than 9 million. ReFuels has one station under construction in Doncaster in South Yorkshire, one of the UK’s largest logistics hubs, and are targeting to have 30-40 stations in operation by end-2026. ReFuels provides monthly operational updates, which are normally released within ten working days after the end of the month.
